Nomination Categories

Team of the Year Award

This award will be presented to the team who are able to best demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals. The team should have a leader whose role is known and accepted and who takes personal responsibility for their tasks. Teams should have an excellent communication process and each member’s skills should be recognised within the team. Demonstrating a commitment to dignity and privacy for clients and respect for team members is paramount.

Please note that a maximum of three people may represent the team at the judging day.

Cook/Chef of the Year Award

This award recognises the ‘whole home approach’ to food and nutrition issues within the Care Sector, providing recognition to the catering and care staff and nutrition-related activities in the home e.g. staff training / awareness sessions, linking to residents’ activities, water provision, the use of local produce.

Carer of the Year Award

This award recognises the significant role of the Carer in consistently providing a high-quality standard. Evidence of dedication, awareness of colleagues and career development through training will be principal elements for the judges.

Dementia Carer of the Year Award

This award will be given to an individual who can reflect the specific skills needed to manage and deliver services sensitive to the needs of older people with dementia, and which reflects an awareness of the provider organization that investment in this type of service provision will meet increasing demand in the future.

Young Carer of the Year (under 25)

This award recognises the significant role of a Young Carer in providing a quality standard. Evidence of dedication, awareness of colleagues and career development through training will be principal elements for the judges.

Keeping House Award

This award will recognise an excellent, person centred service to clients, demonstrating dignity and respect through ancillary services, (for example, handy persons, cleaners, and receptionists). Nominations should provide examples of initiatives and excellence in their work and outstanding client feedback.

Activity Coordinator of the Year Award

This award will be given to the Activity Coordinator who has demonstrated they can provide a ‘needs led,’ varied and appropriate programme for residents. Coordinators who show exceptional skills, creativity, and responsibilities in arranging activities either alone or in conjunction with a senior

Nurse of the Year Award

This award acknowledges the vital role that specialist nurses working in the care sector have in promoting the emotional, physical, psychological, and social health of the people who they support. The individual should be able to demonstrate how nursing skills integrate with social care.

Frontline Leader of the Year Award

This award will be given to a person who is a supervisor, senior care worker, team leader or a first-time manager and has shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team. A person who has shown leadership qualities by reflecting on what could be better and supporting others to bring about change.

Registered Manager/Deputy Manager of the Year Award

This award will be given to the Registered Manager or Deputy Manager who has demonstrated an elevated level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing a complex business in the care sector. A Manager or Deputy Manager who shows vision in developing person centred care and supporting staff to meet the ever-changing needs of clients.

Terms and Conditions

All online nominations must be submitted by midnight on Friday 28 February 2025. (Any nomination received after this date will not be considered.)

Finalists will be informed that they have been successful by w/c Monday 17 March 2025.

All finalists will receive 1x free ticket to the event and refunds will be issued to any finalists who have already booked a ticket before the finalists are announced.

General Rules

  • Nominees must work in (or be a) care provider on the Isle of Wight.

  • Nominations will only be accepted via the online nomination system unless they are submitted by a resident/client.

  • Entries cannot be amended after the submission deadline.

  • Each category will be judged blind (all identifiable names etc are removed from entries so they are completely anonymous) by an independent panel of judges.

  • The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • All finalists should be available to attend the award ceremony.

  • If someone is announced as a finalist after they have already bought a ticket, the price of their ticket will be refunded.

General Entry Guidance

  • Please note that when you have reached the number of characters permitted for each section, it will not allow you to type anymore. These limits must be adhered to and no additional pages/emails will be accepted.

  • Entries will be judged on quality rather than quantity, so please read the guidance for each category and try and give good reasons and examples to answer each question. One well-thought-out detailed entry tells the judges far more than 10 vague entries with a single sentence in each box.
